The thousand chipmunks, the attacking seagull and a canoeing squirrel

It's 4'th of July weekend. And we have headed north. It was quite hard to find a campsite as just about every Michigander heads north this weekend. But we did manage to find a rustic campsite at Fishermans Island state park. It is VERY rustic. We are deep in the forest, there is no electricity, no running water in the "bathrooms", and about 1000 crazy chipmunks scurrying around driving Bailey nuts.
They eat his food when he is not around:

And they make him chase them without ever getting a chance of catching them. But as he needs exercise anyways it is quite OK.
Luca has a new obsession, which is to eat sunflower seeds and he refuses to go anywhere without munching on a pack

As we are just north of Traverse city we decided to go check out the cherry festival. Well, there were cherries

And candy floss

And a gazillion people

It was on the crowded side for bringing a dog and waiting in line for restrooms and trying to get coffee, so we decided to leave quite early.
On our way back to the car we saw a baby seagull wandering the streets constantly being in danger of getting run over by a car. Seagull mom was NOT happy. And decided to attack Ulrik! And managed to make a hole in his head (in a nice beak shape). So we started heading back to the car a bit faster. Then seagull mom came back bringing a little gang of other angry seagulls, and then we decided to make it to the car REALLY fast😳. Ulrik got the blood cleaned off and does otherwise seem OK, but we do not like seagulls anymore. And as we passed a taxidermy store on our way to Traverse City we decided to make a stop. Who knows? Maybe there was a stuffed seagull we could buy as revenge! It turned out to be the most awesome store EVER:

I just love finding these places unexpectedly (and I secretly wish a had a few hundred dollars to spare to get that canoeing squirrel).
